The mission of the City Clerk's Office is to centralize the public records of the City of Bonney Lake, to make them available for reference, and to ensure their proper preservation.

General Information
The City Clerk's Office is responsible for maintaining the City's official documents, including ordinances and resolutions; preparation of weekly Council agendas; and keeping the minutes of City Council meetings. This department responds to requests for disclosure of public records, provides notary service for official city business, provides voter registration applications, maintains a legislative history, records official records, contracts and agreements as required. It is also responsible for updating, codifying and publishing the Bonney Lake Municipal Code, publishing the City's Bonney Lake Reporter newsletter, and internal policy/procedure manuals.

The City's records management program (retention, microfilming and records storage) is provided through the City Clerk's office, as well as overseeing destruction of records. Some updates of the City's website are performed by the City Clerk's office. Technical support is given to the departments for official notices and publication of ordinances and resolutions, correspondence, and staff reports. The City Clerk's office is considered the general information desk for City business. All department mail distribution and the central switchboard are located in the City Clerk's Office.

To request to review or receive copies of public records, please complete the Request for Disclosure of Public Records Form, which can be found on our Forms Page. You may submit this form by mail, fax, e-mail, or in person at Bonney Lake City Hall.

By mail: Attn: City Clerk
        City of Bonney Lake
        P.O. Box 7380
        Bonney Lake, WA 98391-0944

By fax: (253) 862-8538

By e-mail: publicdisclosure@ci.bonney-lake.wa.us

Processing:
If a disclosure request is received during normal business hours, the City will provide a response by the 5th business day after receipt. If the request is received when City Hall is closed, the 5-business day response period will start on the next occurring business day. Within 5-business days of the receipt by the City of the request for disclosure, the Public Records Officer (City Clerk) or designee shall:
(1) provide the record, or the portion of the record(s) subject to disclosure, after the payment of applicable fees; or
(2) acknowledge the City’s receipt of the request, accompanied by an estimate of time necessary for further response; or
(3) deny the request accompanied by an explanation of the basis of denial; or
(4) request a deposit for the records requested along with an estimate of time necessary to complete the request; or
(5) ask for clarification of the request for records.

The City will work to expedite a response to your disclosure request. Requests will generally be handled in the order received. However, the City may handle simple requests first based on our best estimate of how to most expeditiously handle the total number of current requests.

Fees:
There is no charge for the first 5 standard copies provided in response to a disclosure request. A fee of $0.15 per page is charged thereafter for providing copies of documents up to 11”x17”. Larger copies will be charged as otherwise provided for in the City’s fee schedule.

Deposit for Duplication:
The Public Records Officer may require the requester to deposit a sum equal to 10% of the estimated cost prior to duplication of the records. In the event that a deposit is required, the City will notify the requester of the necessity of the deposit. If the actual duplication and deposit fees are less than the amount deposited by the requester, the City will return the sum in excess of the actual amount to the requester.

Payment of Required Fees:
Payment of duplication and applicable postage fees shall be made prior to the disclosure of public records. When a deposit is required, the payment of a deposit shall be made prior to the duplication of any records.

Please contact department staff with questions (see contacts below). Thank you for your attention. We look forward to serving you.
