TRAILS

Current Trails
Currently the City has few trails, but we are planning for more in the future. Trails inside City Limits are located at Allan Yorke Park,on the South end of Lake Tapps at the intersection of W Tapps Hwy and Bonney Lake Blvd. There are approximately 1000’ of trails in the Southeast corner of the park.

Foothills Rails-To-Trails
The path, known as the Foothills Trail, is the main thread in a web of East Pierce trails expected to come together by the end of the decade. The Foothills Trail and some other local paths are part of a nationwide rails-to-trails movement to convert abandoned railroad lines to paved trails for walking and bicycling, and for horseback riding on the graveled shoulder.

The Foothills Trail does not currently run through Bonney Lake; however, it is close by. There are trailheads in Puyallup, McMillin, Orting, South Prairie and Buckley. For maps, details on planned expansions and other information please visit PierceCountyTrails.org.

Future Fennel Creek Trail
The City of Bonney Lake is working on creating a multi-use trail along Fennel Creek. The Fennel Creek Corridor Watershed is located within the jurisdictions of the City of Bonney Lake and Unincorporated Pierce County in Washington State.  This eight mile long watershed is the largest of eight tributaries within the Mid-Puyallup River Basin.
Information on the creek and plans for the trail can be found through the Fennel Creek Preservation Group. Marian Betzer is the Facilitator and contact for this group. The Fennel Creek Preservation Group can be found online at: http://www.fennelcreek.org.

Other Future Trails
See the City’s Non-Motorized Transportation Plan below to find out the plans for future trails, bike lanes, and more.  The Plan will be finalized soon, but in the time being the draft is available for viewing.
