Pierce County Library Job & Business Centers
Want free help finding and getting a job or starting and sustaining a small business? Pierce County Library System can help!

In response to the current economic downturn, the Library is increasing its access to free services for job seekers and small business entrepreneurs. The Library System is adding significantly to job and business resources online, in libraries and in communities.

Six libraries will offer Job and Business Centers dedicated to help people improve their job skills, and search for and get jobs, as well as start and retain small businesses. The centers are dedicated spaces in libraries with one-stop shopping where you will easily find greater access to free job and small business resources, including:
• Computers.
• Trained and knowledgeable professionals.
• Computer classes and workshops.

In June 2010 the Job and Business Centers opened at Gig Harbor, Lakewood, Parkland/Spanaway, and South Hill Pierce County Libraries. Later this summer, a center will open at Sumner Pierce County Library, and in 2011 a center will open at the new University Place Pierce County Library. In addition, the Library will take classes for job seekers and small business entrepreneurs on the road via mobile computer labs.

As of March 2010, seven organizations have provided $187,250 in funding to help the Library respond to this significant need.

All Pierce County Libraries offer job and business books and materials and access to computers, and many libraries offer computer classes in English and Spanish.

You may also access job and business resources online at www.piercecountylibraryjbc.org  or call 253-536-5600 for more information.
