Building Services
Building Permits
If you are looking to build a home, an accessory dwelling unit, a garage or just do some tenant improvements you will likely require a building permit. Please contact our Permit Technicians, who will be happy to guide you through this process. You may also stop by our Permit Center at the City Hall Annex (8720 Main St E).
Planning Services
Boundary Line Adjustments
The City can assist you in adjusting your boundary lines. Please contact our Assistant Planner to begin the process and visit our Planning Permits page to learn more about the required application.
Grading and Filling / Tree Removal
For major clearing, grading, landscaping and clear cutting efforts you may require a permit from our Planning Department. Please contact our Assistant Planner for detailsand visit our Planning Permits page to learn more about the required application.
Long Plats/Subdivision
If you want to subdivide your property into nine or more lots there is a detailed process you will need to go through with our City Planning Department. The Associate Planner can help guide you through this process and information on the various required forms may be found on our Planning Permits page.
Short Platting
If you want to subdivide your property into less than nine lots you are short platting and will need to work with the City to ensure it is done legally. Please contact our Assistant Planner and visit our Planning Permits page to learn more about the required applications.
Setbacks
If you are building on your property there are many setback rules of which you will need to be aware. The required setbacks are dependent on what you are building, whether you have a wetland on your property and a variety of other variables. To find out your setbacks please contact our Assistant Planner.
Public Works Services
Water and Sewer Availability.
