DOWNTOWN PLAN

General Information
The City of Bonney Lake’s Comprehensive Plan incorporates a Downtown Plan, adopted in 2004 and refined in 2007. See the Community Character Element of the Comprehensive Plan, which can be found on our Comprehensive Plans Page . The refined Downtown Plan has better imagery, being based on a 3-D computer model. It is also based on an updated economic study and extensive stakeholder involvement from the Downtown Developers Group. Click here to download the Downtown Plan (5.14 MB).
Progress
Since 2004 the City has adopted and refined the Downtown Plan, adopted and refined the Downtown zoning to implement the Downtown Plan, and established a design review process Downtown Design Guidelines (8.17MB). The Downtown Design Guidelines were adopted by the City Council on August 14, 2007 (Ordinance 1250).
The first major project towards redeveloping the Downtown is the extension of 184th Ave, which has been renamed 'Main Street'. The new Main Street has been extended through the Greenwood Development at Sumner-Buckley Hwy. For more information on this and other projects, visit our Current Projects Page.
The City will also build a commercial/office building at 9004 Main St E, near the library. The building will serve as the Interim Justice Center until the planned City Hall is built in the Downtown area.
Downtown Developers Group
The Downtown Developers Group meets monthly. It is a private group supported by City staff. They helped do the Downtown planning and continue to meet in order to coordinate their redevelopment efforts. Landowner coordination is vital because the Downtown is divided into small parcels. In many cases the parcels need to be aggregated or jointly developed in order for the Downtown Plan to be realized. To learn more contact the Executive Assistant
